Robot localization with beacons

One of the most interesting challenges in robotics is the finding a solution to the question "Where am I?".
Aswin Bouwmeester, the creator of the holonomic NXT robot Agilis, has published a robot that solves that challenge by using a set of external beacons ("stars", one might almost say) for localization.
